Capturing the Essence of a Cool Summer with Maréfleur: A Journey to Bainet's Coastal Breezes
. When we created Fraîcheur d’été (Cool Summer) essential oil blend, we aimed to capture the essence of a refreshing summer breeze that soothes the soul and invigorates the mind. Our inspiration came from cherished memories of visiting my grandmother’s coastal home in Bainet, a beautiful town in Haiti. Her house faced the street across from the ocean, and on the right side of the house, a river ran to the ocean, creating a picturesque view from the veranda. We would often sit on the veranda in a wicker rocking chair, feeling the fresh breeze of the ocean caressing our faces, carrying with it the sweet and invigorating scent of the sea. This essential oil blend was crafted to evoke those vivid, serene moments. It includes: *Peppermint (Mentha piperita): Peppermint was added to evoke the crisp and invigorating aroma of the cool breeze we felt when visiting Bainet. *Lemon (Citrus limon): The bright, zesty scent of lemon was included to add a touch of sunshine, reminiscent of the bright days spent at the beach. *Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): We chose lavender for its calming scent to introduce a serene, floral note that transported us to those peaceful moments on the veranda. Its soothing scent helped make time stand still. *Lime (Citrus latifolia): Lime was included for its tart, vibrant fragrance, complementing lemon’s zest and infusing the blend with a lively energy that mirrors the playful essence of our summer days exploring the coastline. Its fresh, tangy scent adds a burst of excitement to the blend. *Spearmint (Mentha spicata): Lastly, we added spearmint for its sweet, minty freshness as we wanted to enhance the overall cooling sensation to leave you feeling refreshed from head to toe. It captures the Bainet’s coastal breezes we cherished, making every breath a delightful experience. For us, Fraîcheur d’été (Cool Summer) is not just an essential oil blend; it’s an experience in a bottle. We hope it will transport you to your own memories of sitting in a rocking chair on a cottage veranda, watching a wondrous coastal landscape, and feeling its gentle breeze and scent embracing you.
Unveiling Our Natural Spring Aromatherapy Mist
. This Spring, step behind the scenes with us as we introduce our latest creation, Jardin du Bien-être (Wellness Garden) Aromatherapy Mist. Composed of 100% natural essential oils, this mist is an olfactory homage to the restorative and tranquil essence of a blooming garden. With an open mind, we selected imagery that we were drawn to and captured our intention. We analyzed the details—from the time of day to the peaceful setting, the varied textures, and the overall feel conveyed by the mood board. These images guided us to write descriptors that captured each of these aspects and led to our choice of essential oils. Bergamot was chosen for its radiant and soothing presence that reflected the garden's fresh, outdoor luminosity. Next, Lavender was selected for its tranquil essence, echoing the calm captured by the woman inhaling the aroma of the flower, and the garden's tranquility. To ground the fragrance, we picked Vetiver, Basil, and Patchouli, which evoke the scent of moist soil, weathered wall stones, and lush green foliage and grass. For the heart of this aromatherapy mist, we chose the sweet, comforting, and rejuvenating notes of Rose and Geranium, complemented by Palmarosa, to capture the essence of the vibrant and varied flowers at their peak bloom, as seen in the mood board. Lastly, Sandalwood was added as it captures the tall enveloping and protective trees in the backdrop of one of the photos. It was also chosen for its creamy texture and ability to soften the fragrance edges, contributing to the overall embracing feel of our Jardin du Bien-être.
Rêve Orange: A Holiday Fragrance Inspired by Joyful Memories
. Rêve Orange didn’t start as a fragrance—it started as a need.✨ A couple of years ago, a dear friend expressed feeling burned out. I listened carefully and said, “Give me some time, and I’ll create a scent I think you’ll love." So I sat with my oils and composed for her a natural, sweet, and citrusy blend with bright top notes of bergamot, sweet orange, and mandarin. When I introduced Rêve Orange last year as a limited aromatherapy fragrance, I only shared part of its story. But there’s so much more to it than meets the eye. You see, its uplifting scent reminded me of joyful times in Haiti—back to past Christmas or New Year’s Eve. In Haiti, Réveillon is a late-night celebration during the holidays. Family, extended family, friends or extended family, even neighbors often gathered at our home. The air buzzed with Kompa, troubadour, and zouk, layered with lively chatter, jokes, and laughter. I can still hear the signature laugh of my cousin Segro—a crescendoing “Rahhhhhhhh!” that echoed through the house; the chaos of cousins giggling on one side of the living room while the adults filled the other with lively conversations. And then there were the savory-sweet aromas of familiar dishes filling the air, along with the lingering perfumes of many loved ones. The more I thought about those moments, the more I wanted to tweak my aromatherapy scent to capture them. So I returned to my oils. I added more vanilla, more sandalwood and more benzoin to evoke the warmth, love, and sense of belonging that made our Réveillon so special. But even then, something was still missing. That’s when neroli came to mind—a sweet, multifaceted oil with a relaxing and uplifting scent. Its citrusy brightness, green whisper, and soft floral notes brought the quiet joy and contentment of those gatherings to life.❤ Looking back on Rêve Orange’s creative process, it made me appreciate more the importance of being open and curious about the natural scents I love. So as you encounter aromas you enjoy, listen to them, follow their lead, and see where they take you—because often, the scents we instinctively love can help us uncover a deeper story than meets the eye.
